I’m keen to comment on how awesome Gwen Stefani’s watermelon red lips looked at the 2011 Museum Of Contemporary Art Gala, as well as her ace use of not-so-obvious false eye lashes on the outer corners of her eyes, but I won’t.
I will, however, talk about her stunning top knot. It's incredible. Flattering. Edgy.
The best part about this insanely amazing ‘do is this: it’s possibly the easiest hairstyle to recreate. You just need a headful of hair, two hands, an elastic and a few bobby pins. Oh, and a wee can of hairspray on standby won’t hurt either.
STEP 1: Take day-old hair (or use dry shampoo to make clean hair gritty) and pop it up into a super-high ponytail on the top of your head. The higher the better.
STEP 2: Take the end of the ponytail and twist.
STEP 3: Next, wrap it around the base of the ponytail loosely. If any shorter bits pop out, embrace them. Gwen Stefani did, and she looks dam cool as a result.
STEP 4: Use bobby pins to secure the ponytail around the hair tie. No need to secure it perfect – a little messiness is a-okay.
STEP 5: Use your fingers to tease the top knot a little so you get a soft, sexy wispy finish, before misting lightly with hairspray.
Easy as, right?
The wispy bits hanging by her ears are slightly questionable, but hey - no one doubts Gwen Stefani and her style. No one.
