Fake tan is definitely one of man’s best inventions. (As a fair-skinned gal, I truly mean this from the bottom of my pale heart.) But that doesn’t mean it’s fool-proof. Oh no. I mean - look at Demi Lovato. This is a classic case of fake tan overload. Fakery and its fakest.

In an attempt to save you from your own Demi Lovato-like disaster, here are some ace tanning tips from St. Tropez International Expert, Sophie Evans. She’s got 14 years of beauty therapy experience under her belt and, as if she needed any more street cred, she’s sprayed the faux brown stuff on a few A-list celebrities in her time too.
HANDY TANNING TIP NO.1: Exfoliate your body every other day. “Not just before you have a tanning session,” says Sophie.
HANDY TANNING TIP NO.2: “Every couple of weeks, detox your tan in a relaxing hot bath by removing all existing tan.” St. Tropez’s new Tan Detox comes in mighty handy for this exercise.
HANDY TANNING TIP NO.3: Don’t skimp on product when it comes to application. If you apply it liberally, “You'll be able to apply the tan quicker and guarantee all areas are covered,” says Sophie. “Never rub a tan into the skin, simply smooth gently onto the skin's surface and allow the skin to absorb the product evenly.”
HANDY TANNING TIP NO.4: Watch out for the danger areas. “Hands and feet absorb the self tan fast, so no matter what tan you're using, moisturise these areas well.”
HANDY TANNING TIP NO.5: Tight fitting gloves are your best friend when you’re applying fake tan. “This will avoid palm staining and give you a fast sweeping application,” Sophie explains.
Oh, and before I let you trot off to the bathroom to apply your fake tan, I simply must leave you with this comment: St Tropez Self Tan Bronzing Mousse is the absolute bomb.
