They just presented their first ever MBFWA show - a feat akin to a rapper cutting his first album or a chef punching Matt Preston in the face - so we checked in with the duo to see what kind of chutzpah it takes to make a show like this go from dream to reality.
How would you describe your first MBFWA show?
We Are Handsome's first MBFWA show was essentially a live extension of all of our SS13 collections as we design three ranges for each Summer. We wanted to bring the range to life on stage on a polished and fresh platform.
How long did preparations take?
This is something we've been working towards since we started the brand and we're really excited to have finally officially launched We Are Handsome locally. Because we're showcasing a combination of our last three collections, in essence we have been preparing for nearly 12 months!
What was the inspirations for the collection?
There's definitely a presence from our USA trip late last year when we visited Miami and New York. We were totally captivated by each place and their stark differences. Both collections are, of course, visually captivating and alluring and there's a magnetic confidence behind each piece.
What was your life like in the weeks leading up to the event?
They were full of meetings with our stylist, creative team, sponsors, hair and make up and producer. And of course, working extremely closely with our team to produce the best show possible. We were also working on our next campaign shoot and new collection plus moving offices! We were told we were actually very organised which is surprising.
You’ve had a great reception from celebrities - what’s it like seeing celebs rockin’ a WAH piece?
It's very always flattering. The celebrity following and attention has happened very organically from the get go. The way We Are Handsome was created was initially as a creative collaboration, it just sky rocketed from there. Everyone from international and national stockists and press, as well as celebrities and our customers have been very supportive from the beginning which has propelled the brand to this point.
